February Family

This month we have the privilege of blessing a family that has been such an example of servanthood and sacrifice for the Kingdom of God! For February, we'll be supporting a  young Missionary Family based in England. They have been serving the Lord over seas for many years in Europe. They have 4 children: Two girls, and two boys. As many of you know, missionaries often live on the support they receive from others, usually this means they must go without a lot. Because they live in England, the support they receive is worth only half the amount they receive....so, our $1 equals their $.50. In light of this, I'm sure we can all imagine how much they have had to go without.

So, let's pray about how we can bless and support this family, who has blessed the lives of so many!

Below is a very short list I received from them, of course they didn't include much. But I did ask for more ideas...so hopefully I'll be able to update the list. I've added a few ideas to the list because they didn't give much to go on...and of course for the Mother & Father, as they did not include any needs of their own.

Please keep in mind the fact that your gifts will need to be shipped....so please try to keep your gifts on the smaller side (size-wise) so that our shipping costs don't get too out of control. :) Please also pray for the postage to be provided for.

Family Details:

Mother & Father in their 30's (husband is a pastor)
Daughter (9 years old - size 9 clothing)
Son (6 years old - size 6/7 clothing)
Son (4 years old - size 5 clothing)
Daughter (3 years old - size 3 clothing)

Needs:

• Long sleeved shirts for all (apparently it is very cold & rainy there, and they mostly wear cold weather clothes)
• Hats, scarves, rain boots, shoes, socks, underwear
• Arts and crafts for kids
• Board Games, books, movies (DVD)
• For the Mom: anything you as a woman love to get as a gift (christian books, candles, jewelry, bath, body & hair products, etc.)
• For the Dad: please ask your husbands for ideas....

Deadline:

•Please have all your gifts to Calvary Chapel Middleton (Dorcas Box under Entry table) or Contact Jonie to make arrangements for Boise Pickups by February 28th. (484-3510)
• Please comment at the bottom of this post to report the items you will be contributing...that way we all know and won't duplicate items. :) If you'd like to keep it private, you can email instead.

I hope to be able to update this list with more ideas for their needs. Please pray, as I know the Lord loves to give unspoken needs/desires to His children...and I am sure He will guide each of us as we seek to bless this family! Also, please keep this sweet family in your prayers as you think of them.

God Bless You All!

January

Hello!

My apologies for dropping the ball in communicating with you all for the month of January. There was an individual that we were able to support, even though I failed to post about it here. Just so you know there was a young woman who just received the Lord in her life, and was in need of some basic kitchen items as she was just moving out on her own for the first time. Many of you came together to bless and support her at the last minute....and she was so thankful! Thanks to all of you who gave so joyfully to this young woman! God is shining so brightly through you!

In His Mercy,
Jonie

December

A family has been selected for December. Please pray about helping us support this family for Christmas.

Our family consists of a Mother and two daughters. They currently do not have a car...the Mother is trying to save up to get something that runs, and will not be able to provide Christmas presents for her daughters. They will be with family for Christmas, so at this point we will not focus so much on food, but on other needs (please see below). I know this is a huge thing to ask...so I'll just say this....Let's pray that the Lord would provide a car for this family.

The Mother asked that we focus more on the needs of the girls, rather than on her. Her daughters are 7 yrs. old and 9 months old. Their needs are as follows:

7 year old: Wants to decorate her room: Twin Size bedding, Organizer Bins, Cute frames or things for the walls, A lamp, Cute rug, etc.  She is into Hannah Montana, iCarly, Beauty & the Beast, Cinderella. She has been asking for a Hoola-Hoop, a Train Set, Beauty & the Beast movie, a Barbie Car. She wears size 6 SLIM in clothes, and size 1 in shoes. Her favorite colors are purple and pink.

9 month old: Needs winter clothes. She wears size 18M in clothing, and size 4 in shoes. The Mother said she needs age appropriate toys. Another need might be diapers (size 4), and wipes.

Mother: She says she doesn't need anything but a pair of tennis shoes. I am suggesting a gift card for her.

Please let me know what you'd like to contribute by posting a comment below. I will post updated lists on this blog so that people will know what has been provided and what is still needed. You are welcome to provide items other than what is listed also. You can also contact me via email: dorcasministries@hotmail.com

Thank you all for your hearts to bless this family!

Deadline: Sun. Dec. 19th

November

We supported our first family in November. A single Mother with three children. The group and several women from church pulled together an enormous amount of food, necessities, and gifts for this family who was in great need. We took a list of all the things provided....and wish you all could see it. There were 3 Large boxes and lots of bags of goodies for them...it FILLED UP the back of their car. They didn't know where their Thanksgiving meal would come from...but the Lord had not forgotten them! He supplied their needs in abundance because He loves them. They were so blessed and so encouraged by all of you who came together to make this Thanksgiving a blessing to them in Jesus name! The Mother cried several times as her heart was moved by the kindness of these strangers to her...but really, it is the kindness of our Lord. I hope you are encouraged by this, and knowing that what you contributed was a seed planted in love, for our Savior. I pray we can all continue in these good works, making Jesus' name and love known to all those who are needy, and need Him! Please pray for this family...God knows who they are and what they need and will continue to pursue them and provide for them. We are thankful to have been a part of God's plan in their lives.

Starting Up

This is all new to us! But very exciting. We are inspired by the account of Dorcas in the book of Acts, Chapter 9. I pray you will read it and discover the character of Dorcas, and adopt it as your own, as you seek to serve Jesus and those He loves.
